The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) announces with great pleasure the dissal of trade barriers by Panama, allowing Brazil to export chicken and pork meat to the Central American nation. This development follows a request made by the Brazilian government to its Panamanian counterparts in 2023, aiming to diversify Panama's meat imports beyond their current dependence on North America. With a population of 4.4 million and high per capita meat consumption, Panama presents a significant market for Brazilian meat producers. This move is heralded by ABPA as a step towards market diversification, complementing local production rather than competing with it, and is seen as a feather in the cap for Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro.
