Pecan production in Brazil has been boosted by the appetite of the Chinese market

China, the largest buyer of Brazilian agricultural products, approved in June the sanitary and quarantine requirements related to the quality of Brazilian pecan nuts. Given this scenario, this is an opportune moment to invest in pecan farming, with an eye on expanding this niche. According to the Brazilian Institute of Pecan Farming (IBPecan), of the 320,000 tons produced worldwide, 45,000 are destined for China. Brazil is currently the fourth largest producer of the fruit, behind only the United States, Mexico and South Africa. Rio Grande do Sul accounts for approximately 70% of national production.
