PEIXE BR brings to the Agriculture Secretariat of SP a request for suspension of imported tilapia and review of ICMS in the state.

PEIXE BR (Brazilian Association of Fish Farming) participated, this Tuesday (3), in a meeting with the Secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo, Geraldo Mello Filho, to discuss topics considered strategic for national fish farming and for the productive chain of tilapia. Among the topics presented is the request for suspension of the importation of tilapia fillets from Vietnam by the State of São Paulo, following the model already adopted by Santa Catarina, a measure approved by the courts. The central concern is the sanitary risk of introducing the TiLV (Tilapia Lake Virus), a disease absent in the state of São Paulo that could compromise the health of local production. Another point of emphasis is the taxation of imported tilapia fillets.
