Peru is the world's leading exporter of blueberries, ranking as the country's second largest export product following table grapes, according to Agraria.pe. From January to August 2022, blueberry exports reached USD 410 million, marking a 68% increase from the previous year. The success of blueberries is attributed to the promotion of private activity, investment, and free trade, as well as research and innovation. A study by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) emphasizes the crucial role of the private sector, especially Inka's Berries, in establishing and cultivating blueberries in Peru, which has led to the development of new varieties with improved characteristics.
