Peru gains mango access to the South African market

The National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) announced that the South African phytosanitary authority, Agricultural, land reform & rural development, approved the phytosanitary requirements for importing Peruvian mangoes to this important African market. The opening of this new market took place after several technical meetings led by Senasa which, in the last meeting, held on January 24, verified the phytosanitary requirements proposed for the access of mangoes to this destination, in relation to the places production and packaging and treatment facilities. "Access to this market will have a positive impact for all mango producers, mainly the more than 7,000 producers from Piura, Lambayeque and Ancash who actively participate in this productive activity," said Miguel Quevedo, head of Senasa.
