Peru produced 38,000 tons of cotton in 2022, showing an increase of 158% compared to the previous year

(Agraria.pe) In the 2022/2023 campaign, Peru planted 6,945 hectares of cotton, showing an increase of 11% compared to the 6,251 hectares of the previous campaign (2021/2022), reported the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri ). He indicated that despite registering said growth in the 2022/2023 campaign, the installed area is still 67% less than that planted in the 2014/2015 campaign, which reached 20,938 hectares. In the 2015/2016 campaign, 14,644 has were installed, in the 2016/2017 campaign there were 5,636 has; in the 2017/2018 campaign there were 9,687 has; in the 2018/2019 campaign there were 11,978 has; in the 2019/2020 campaign there were 3,772 has; in the 2020/2021 campaign there were 3,309 has.
