In October 2024, Peru's banana exports saw a significant increase, with a total of 13,489 tons earning US$ 11.7 million, marking a 10.5% increase in volume and a 13.9% increase in value compared to the same month in the previous year. This growth is attributed to higher average prices and reduced supply from competitors like Ecuador and the Dominican Republic due to weather conditions and quality issues, respectively. The majority of the exports were fresh bananas, with the Netherlands being the primary importer, followed by the United States, Italy, Panama, and South Korea. The report also highlighted the participation of 38 companies in these exports, with Pronatur S.A.C., Agronegocios los Ángeles S.A.C., and Cooperativa Agraria de Servicios Múltiples APAGA leading in fresh banana shipments, and Inka Crops dominating in processed banana exports.
