In the first four months of 2020, Peru's agro-exports saw a slight increase of 1.5%, totaling US $ 1,973,647,000, despite traditional agricultural shipments, such as coffee, experiencing a 36% drop. Non-traditional exports, including fruits and other agricultural products, saw a 3.9% increase. The United States was the leading destination for these exports, followed by the Netherlands and Hong Kong. However, in April, agro-exports saw a 20% decrease, reaching only US $ 325,287,000, and were exported to 82 markets, a 25% reduction compared to the previous year. Some markets, like India and Switzerland, no longer received Peruvian exports, and there was a reduction in shipments to the United States, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Spain, China, and the United Kingdom. The exports of traditional agriculture also continued to decline, while non-traditional agriculture experienced fluctuating growth.
