Peruvian artichoke exports fell -30% in volume and -25% in value between January and May 2023

However, this year it looks like it could have some complications to sustain that rate. From January to May 2023, artichoke shipments totaled 12,000 tons valued at US$36 million (US$3 per kilogram), showing a drop of -30% in volume and -25% in value compared to 17,000. tons for US$ 49 million (US$ 2.88 per kilogram) registered in the same period of 2022. The lower volumes allowed a small upward adjustment in the price (6%), partially offsetting the drop in the final value exported. The fall in volume coincided with the recovery of European production, specifically in France and Spain.
