Peruvian banana exports reached 14 countries in February 2024

(Agraria.pe) In February 2024, the Peruvian banana sector exported 15,500 tons, registering an increase of +11.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. However, this number represented a slight decrease of 4% compared to January 2024 The distribution of Peruvian banana exports extended to 14 different destinations, with the Netherlands leading the demand with 32.6% of the total, equivalent to 5,050 tons. Panama and Italy followed, with 20.7% and 10.8% respectively, translating into 3,202 and 1,675 tons. Belgium and the United States were also among the main importers, receiving 1,308 and 1,153 tons, respectively. Regarding the diversity of exported bananas, the Cavendish variety dominated with 28.7%; followed by the Green, with 41.9%.
