In January, Peru witnessed a significant surge in pomegranate exports, reaching $6.68 million, a 448% increase from the previous year's $1.22 million. The exports, primarily in fresh and frozen forms, were predominantly to the Netherlands, Brazil, and the United States, driven by the high demand for pomegranates as a superfood due to their nutritional benefits. The bulk of the production comes from Ica, along with contributions from other regions, showcasing the fruit's global popularity and its economic significance to Peru.
