Peruvian mango exports to Chile continue and become a market

Mango is the fourth most exported fruit in Peru after grapes, blueberries and avocados. 7 varieties of it are exported; Of which, 78% correspond to the Kent variety, followed by Haden 18%, Ataulfo 2%, and 2% between Tommy Atkins, Edward and Keit. With this, SENASA ruled out that Chile has currently closed its market for Peruvian mangoes and announced that, with the support of the private sector, an investigation is being carried out to demonstrate that hydrothermal treatment eliminates queresas; pest for which SAG Chile imposed phytosanitary restrictions for Peruvian mangoes. Mango exports in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 campaigns were 233,117 and 243,642 tons, respectively; of which, Chile represented 3% of the volumes shipped. This fruit has authorization to enter more than 60 countries and in the last export campaign, shipments destined for 34 international markets have been certified.
