Peruvian onion exports grew 62% in volume and 89% in value in July of this year

(Agraria.pe) Peruvian onion exports registered a notable growth in July 2024, reaching a total of 37,402 tons for US$ 19.7 million, registering a growth of +62% in volume and +89% in value, compared to what was reported in the same month of the previous year. The United States was the main destination, although its share decreased considerably, from 92.5% to 58%. At the same time, Colombia and the Dominican Republic emerged as key markets, representing 14.4% and 13.8% of exports, respectively. The United States received 16,153 tons in July 2024. However, the value of exports to this market grew by 19%, reaching US$ 11.4 million, thanks to a 50% increase in the average price, which went from US$ 0.47 to US$ 0.71 per kilogram.
