(Agraria.pe) During the first quarter of 2023, piquillo exports amounted to US$10 million for 4.4 tons, registering a drop of 15% in value and 25% in volume compared to US$11.9 million for 5.8 tons registered in the same period of 2022. Regarding the international price, in these first three months of this year it was US$ 2.28. Regarding the destinations of the piquillo preserves, this product was demanded in 12 countries. Of this group, Spain, the United States and France stood out for another year as the main importers of the product in this initial period of the year. The Iberian country was the most important destination, acquiring 3.8 tons of canned piquillo peppers for US$8.8 million, an amount that is equivalent to 87% of the total exported value of the product. For its part, the United States imported 177 tons worth US$460,000; while the French country, 114 tons for US$ 102,000.
