Between January and August of 2024, Peru experienced a significant increase in piquillo pepper exports, with revenue reaching US$ 33.7 million, a 29.3% increase from the previous year. In August alone, the country exported 4,058 tons of the pepper, valued at US$ 6.8 million, marking a 66.4% increase in value and a 104.2% increase in volume compared to August 2023. Despite the increased volume, the price per kilogram decreased by 18.5% to US$ 1.66. The exports were primarily made by four agro-exporting companies, led by Ecosac Agrícola S.A.C., with Spain, the United States, and Puerto Rico being the main destinations.
