The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana has allocated GH¢3.3 billion for the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0) program, aiming to make the country self-sufficient in staple commodities by 2028. The funding will be distributed across four budget programs: Crop and Livestock Development, Mechanisation, Irrigation and Water Management, Agribusiness Development, and Sustainable Management of Land and Environment. Despite this significant investment, the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has expressed concerns over the policy's implementation, pointing out inconsistencies and lack of targeting that are negatively impacting agriculture production. The association also highlighted that a large majority of farmers have not been registered for the program and criticized the lack of direct investment for farmers.
