In a virtual meeting led by Javier Calderón Elizalde of Senasica, the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) in Mexico, along with national asparagus producers, have committed to enhancing sanitary measures to protect asparagus crops from pests, notably the fall armyworm. This collaboration emphasizes adherence to international phytosanitary standards and the push for European Union approval of the Electronic Phytosanitary Certificate (ePhyto). The initiative aims to maintain the competitiveness of Mexican producers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, by implementing science-based phytosanitary measures.
