Banana and pineapple exports in Costa Rica have experienced significant growth in the first half of 2023, with a 19% increase for bananas and 13% increase for pineapples compared to the same period in 2022. Both crops accounted for 6% of the country's total exports and are part of the horticultural sector, which is the second fastest-growing and most important sector after the medical field. The favorable weather conditions, lower transportation costs, and increased demand in the European market have contributed to higher profit margins for these exports.
