Strawberries grown in Japira, Pinhalão, Tomazina, and Jaboti, Paraná's strawberry capital, have achieved Geographical Indication (GI) certification, attracting buyers from various regions with their quality and authenticity. The Norte Velho Association (ANV) produces approximately 450 tons annually, serving both regional and expanding markets. The certified strawberries are used in supermarket, bakery, confectionery, and ice cream markets, with sales prices increasing by up to 50% due to the certification. The region uses both traditional and greenhouse techniques for production and is expanding partnerships with supermarket chains. Investments are being made in infrastructure to improve the industrialization of strawberry by-products.
