Heavy rains in the north of the country caused 80% of the mango flowering in Piura to be lost, resulting in an estimated economic loss of over 200 million dollars. The Kent type of mango was most affected, impacting its export, while the Eduard type fared better but cannot be exported due to its delicate nature. Additionally, organic banana production has been affected by pests and climate change, with a significant drop in mango production since February.
