The Malaysian government has announced a decrease in the retail prices of Grade A, B, and C eggs by three sen each, making the new prices 42 sen, 40 sen, and 38 sen respectively. This move is in response to the savings from targeted subsidies and aims to benefit the public. The subsidy coverage for each egg costs 10 sen, totaling RM100 million, with an additional RM927 million allocated for chicken egg subsidies in 2023. The government also intends to harmonize egg prices in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. This decision comes amid a decrease in the input costs of egg production. Additionally, the government's operation to combat diesel smuggling, Ops Tiris, has successfully seized over 6.44 million liters of diesel worth RM14.12 million since its initiation on March 1, 2022.
