Polish Ministers Present Priorities for European Parliament Committees

During informal meetings with the European Parliament, Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, and Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, discussed their priorities.

Hennig-Kloska emphasized the importance of climate change adaptation measures, combating climate disinformation, and progressing key legislative measures such as the Framework Directive on Textile and Food Waste, the European Soil Monitoring Act, and the 'One Substance, One Assessment' package. The Presidency also aims to reach an agreement with Parliament on rules regarding losses of plastic pellets, water pollutants, and detergents.

Siekierski announced that the Council will discuss the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) beyond 2027, with a focus on simplifying its green architecture and assessing the impact of current EU trade agreements on agriculture. The Minister also addressed the need for fair incomes for farmers and adapting the CAP to future EU enlargement, as well as the need to invest in European food sovereignty and the Presidency's position on the EU-Mercosur Association Agreement.
