The program, intended to shift farmers towards less harmful crops like avocado or peach, has been criticized for its poor implementation and limited scope, with only a few communities benefiting and most continuing poppy cultivation. The article highlights the struggle of a young man in Mozimba, who dropped out of high school due to lack of resources and violence, but continues to cultivate poppies to support his family, hoping for a better future for his own child.
