Yuri Kovalev, the General Director of the National Union of Pig Breeders, announced at the Livestock and Feed Production 2024 conference in Moscow that Russia's pork exports could reach 400-500 thousand tons by 2026, positioning Russia among the top five global pork exporters. This optimistic forecast is supported by the recent opening of the Chinese market to Russian pork, following the resolution of issues related to African swine fever. The past year saw a 38 percent increase in pork exports, totaling 240 thousand tons, with significant shipments to neighboring countries, Asia, and beyond. Additionally, Kovalev predicted a 7 percent increase in Russia's domestic pork production for the current year, underscoring the industry's robust growth and stability.
