A crisis alert for jellyfish outbreak has been issued at the 'interest' level in the waters off Busan and South Gyeongsang Province's Namhae. According to surveillance by the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute and local governments from March this year, moon jellyfish have appeared in the Geoje City and Jaran Bay areas with up to 820,895 individuals per hectare, primarily consisting of small individuals under 10cm. In the Geoje City area, there are 289-2,848 individuals per hectare, with an average of 1,470 juvenile and adult individuals per hectare. In the Jaran Bay area, there are 10,125-820,895 individuals per hectare, with an average of 285,437 juvenile and adult individuals per hectare. In response, the Fisheries Research Institute has issued a preliminary jellyfish warning for the waters off Busan and South Gyeongsang Province.
