Crop Protection Chairperson of the WUR Executive Board Louise O. Fresco received the delegation and led the President through researchers in three focus areas, namely reduction of crop protection products, climate policy and residue analysis in fruit and vegetables. For a lot of WUR research, crop protection for example, Suriname is an important partner. Covered cultivation can reduce the use of plant protection products. Gerben Messelink, professor by special appointment of Biological Control in Greenhouse Horticulture at Wageningen Plant Research, explained to the delegation what kind of research is being done and how we can innovate.
