The sunflower market in Ukraine remains tense with a gradual increase in sunflower prices following sunflower oil prices, as well as the strengthening of the dollar against the hryvnia. Dry weather this week will allow the completion of sunflower harvesting and will contribute to an increase in supply against the backdrop of high prices. As of October 23, 7.838 million tons of sunflower have been harvested in Ukraine from 82% of the area (+6% over the week and 94% a year ago) or 4.24 million hectares, with an average yield of 1.85 tons/ha (2.06 tons/ha on this date last year), thus crop forecasts have been reduced to 10-10.5 million tons. Prolonged rainfall has led to the loss of part of the crop in the west of the country and reduced the yield potential in other regions, but there has been no increase in the acid number in the last batches of harvested sunflower.
