The Thrace region in Turkey has seen a significant increase in lavender cultivation, with the crop becoming one of the most widely grown in the area, alongside sunflower. Since 2015, the lavender cultivation areas in Edirne, Kirklareli and Tekirdag have expanded 260 times and now cover over 5,200 decares. The lavender oil products are sold both domestically and internationally. The high yield of lavender and the production of lavender honey have made it a favorite among farmers in the region. A cooperation protocol with Bulgarian institutes for lavender production has also been signed, which has been beneficial and attractive to local farmers.
