Producers in Goiás report cases of rabies in the herd

The Goiania Agency for Agricultural and Livestock Defense (Agrodefesa) has intensified actions to capture and control hematophagous bats in Carmo do Rio Verde, Goiás, following the confirmation of rabies cases in herbivores on four local rural properties. According to Agrodefesa, the cases were reported by the producers themselves, who sought Agrodefesa after observing neurological symptoms in the animals. Veterinary doctors collected samples from the animals and sent them for analysis at the Agrodefesa Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (LabVet), which confirmed the rabies cases. Upon confirmation of the tests, teams from the Rio das Almas Regional Unit immediately began control actions, which include vaccination, sanitary education activities, and inspection to identify possible new cases.
