Production of black acacia grows with demand for energy

According to the Economic Bulletin, released by Emater/RS-Ascar last Thursday (28), the black acacia market in the administrative region of Caxias do Sul remains primarily focused on energy production. Approximately 90% of the wood is intended for domestic consumption, industrial heating, and uses in fireplaces, kilns, restaurants, bakeries, pizzerias, and for charcoal production. A smaller portion is used as scaffolding in civil construction. With the low temperatures during this period, cutting and commercialization have intensified. In some municipalities, there was encouragement for planting by industries in the sector, which provided seedlings. The crop maintains adequate phytosanitary conditions, and the prices of firewood and bark have shown a slight increase. In the same region, the demand for eucalyptus remains stable, with use in firewood, logs, poles, and charcoal.
