Production of tilapia expands participation in Parana's agribusiness

According to the Agricultural Economic Bulletin released this Thursday (11) by analysts from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), from the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), fish production in Paraná has established itself as one of the fastest-growing agribusiness chains in the state. In 2024, the Gross Production Value (GPV) of the sector reached R$ 2.29 billion, a result 10.4% higher than that recorded in 2023. The advance was mainly driven by captive fish farming, with a predominance of tilapia, which accounted for more than 80% of the GPV of the segment. The bulletin points out that, in 2011, the joint GPV of beef cattle, chicken, pigs, and tilapia totaled R$ 10.55 billion, with tilapia accounting for only 1% of the total.
