The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) has introduced a new calf, 'Purita' of the Girolando breed, to ranchers in the Amazon and north coast regions. This calf was born using biotechnology reproduction techniques and was created through a crossbreeding effort between Holstein and Gyr cattle breeds in 2017. The result is a cow that can produce milk with high nutrients, fats, and vitamins in hot conditions and has meat capacity. This will enhance the profitability of small and medium-sized farmers by allowing them to generate high-quality genetic material.
