In 2020, quinoa sales reached $125 million from 50 countries, contributing to around 5.7 million wages and benefiting over 125,000 families. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a 12% increase in national quinoa production. The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) plans virtual conferences and face-to-face events to further promote the consumption and production of these superfood grains, showcasing their biodiversity and adding value to the Peruvian agricultural sector.
