India's monsoon season from June to September was 10% above average, and the country's total rainfall was normal. The northeast monsoon season from October to December was above normal, and live storage in 123 major reservoirs was higher than the previous year. However, unseasonal weather damaged standing Rabi crops, and the government's lockdown caused a shortage of labor and transport, impacting the rabi crop adversely. The Final Rabi Crop Estimates for 2019-20 show that pulses and oilseeds production are expected to decline by 4.58% and 6.58% over the last estimate, respectively. Wheat production is expected to fall by 3.12% over the last estimate, while rice production is projected to increase marginally. Jowar production is expected to increase by 2.62%, leading to an overall increase in production by about 23.57% over the last year.
