Kazakhstan's rapeseed harvest has seen a significant decrease of 34% in 2022, amounting to 188.6 thousand tons, due to a reduction in sown areas and a decline in yields. However, the demand for rapeseed remains high in the country, with local plants having the capacity to process over 1 million tons of oilseeds annually. The country's rapeseed oil production reached a record 79 thousand tons in 2022/23, with China being the largest consumer, accounting for 74% of total sales. The National Association of Oilseeds Processors believes that Kazakhstan has the potential to strengthen its position in supplying rapeseed oil to China.
