EU: RASFF cancels notification on Moroccan peppers

On May 17, 2024, the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) officially withdrew the notification regarding Moroccan peppers exported to Spain. This alert, initially issued on April 30, concerned the presumed presence of pesticide residues, namely Chlorpyrifos and Fenazaquin, in peppers produced in Morocco. However, after extensive testing, these products were confirmed to be free of these substances, leading to the cancellation of the notification. This cancellation comes shortly after another similar decision. On May 8, the RASFF had already withdrawn a notification concerning the detection of hepatitis A residues in a shipment of strawberries from Morocco. This alert, issued on April 18, was the third of its kind targeting Moroccan strawberries, a fruit particularly popular with European consumers.
