Kazakhstan has experienced a 12% annual increase in cheese prices, with the capital seeing a 28% surge above the national average. The country produced 15.5 thousand tons of cheese and cottage cheese from January to June, a 10.7% increase year-over-year, with three regions accounting for nearly half of this production. An investment project in the Almaty region aims to produce traditional Italian cheeses daily, at a cost of 700 million tenge, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Despite this increased production, import share has decreased to 47.1%, and domestic market prices have risen, with the most expensive cheese found in Almaty and Karaganda.
