The Spanish Agricultural Insurance System (Agroseguro) has, for the first time, surpassed the one million hectares declared with damage in 2025 due to stormy weather, the entity assured this Monday. This is an unprecedented record in the 45 years of Agroseguro's existence, surpassing the previous high of 2018, which stood at 857,949 hectares. The estimated compensation for phenomena such as hailstorms, torrential or persistent rains, and wind has reached 446 million euros (mostly paid out) in 2025, the highest figure recorded to date in a single year. Agroseguro has highlighted that the recorded damages correspond to 27 different insurance lines, among which fruit crops (152 million euros), extensive herbaceous crops (106 million), wine grapes (64 million), vegetables (49 million), and citrus fruits (37 million) stand out.
