Bac Son commune in Dong Nai, known as the largest carp farm, is experiencing a surge in activity as trucks gather to export carp to different provinces. The commune, with around 30 farming households, is estimated to supply 50 to 60 tons of carp, predominantly red carp, to the market. These fish, raised for the Vietnamese traditional Tet custom of worshipping the Kitchen God, are popular due to their shiny red color, uniform size, and absence of black spots. Over 100 households in the commune are involved in freshwater fish farming, covering an area of more than 300 hectares.
