Indonesia's Vice President, KH Ma'ruf Amin, has highlighted the country's potential to decrease beef imports by developing cattle farming in regions such as Sulawesi, Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara. The National Food Agency has set a target for beef import volume at 145,250.60 tons by 2024. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture is working on a Belgian Blue cattle breeding project to aid in achieving meat self-sufficiency. The government's goal is to be self-sufficient in beef production by 2026 by increasing the cattle population.
