Resolution of small-scale fishing net operation disputes, discussion on spreading an anti-corruption culture

The East Sea Fisheries Management Office announced that it held a meeting with officials from the Small-Scale Gillnet Association and others in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, on the 9th, to resolve operational disputes and enhance anti-corruption and integrity in the fishing industry. This meeting was organized in response to conflicts that arose between the small-scale gillnet industry and other coastal businesses during the herring fishing process, and served as a platform to listen to the voices of those on the ground and discuss institutional improvement measures. Additionally, the meeting discussed ways to create a fair and transparent fishing environment through the spread of integrity and anti-corruption practices. In particular, to resolve disputes that have arisen during the small-scale gillnet fishing process near the East Sea coast, the "legalization of the East Sea small-scale gillnet fishing prohibition zone" is being promoted. This proposal is currently under consideration.
