Review of Kazakhstan's dairy market in 2024: Production of the national drink drops by more than 30%, while price growth slows down as a bright spot

In 2024, Kazakhstan experienced a minor rise in the production of various dairy products, with milk and cream up by 3.7% to 621,000 tons, butter and dairy substitutes up by 4.6%, and unprocessed cheese products increasing by 3.5%. However, solid dairy products, processed cheese, sour mare's milk, and camel's milk saw a decrease in production. The price of dairy products also saw an increase of 0.7% month-on-month, continuing a trend since July 2016, with the total increase for the year being 6.1%. Per capita dairy consumption in Kazakhstan rose by 1.6% to 173.3 kg, with Akmola Oblast having the highest consumption. Dairy products accounted for 5.4% of the country's total residents' consumption expenditure in Q3 2024.
