Vinh Long province in Vietnam is encouraging sweet potato farmers to obtain planting area codes to boost exports to China. The General Administration of Customs of China has approved 27 applications for these codes, covering several communes in Binh Tan district. This initiative is part of efforts to improve sweet potato production and quality, including the adoption of VietGAP standards. Despite challenges like low prices and COVID-19 impacts, cooperation between farms and businesses is on the rise, with support for initial production costs and fair floor prices. Companies like Hung Phu Agricultural Products Import-Export Co., Ltd. and Song Toan Phat Trading Service Co., Ltd. are actively involved, ready to export the first official batch of sweet potatoes to China.
