In Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, only 22.5% of the 900,203 hectares of irrigated rice fields have been harvested, lagging behind last year's pace of 50% by the same time. Recent heavy rainfall has further delayed the harvest. Data from the Rio Grandense do Arroz Institute (Irga) and local producers show variations in harvest progress across regions, with the Western Border leading at 36%. The impact of the favorable conditions in February on crops still in the reproductive phase in March is yet to be determined.
