Consumer prices for eggs and chicken meat in Russia decreased by 0.6% and 1.2% respectively in February compared to January, according to Rosstat. However, compared to the previous year, eggs were 1.5 times more expensive and chicken prices increased by 25.6%. In response, the Russian government has removed the duty on egg imports, allowing up to 1.2 billion eggs to be imported, and set a quota for duty-free import of 140 thousand tons of poultry meat for 2024.
