For the first time in the history of observations, Russia exported a large volume of buckwheat to Turkey, the press service of the federal center "Agroexport" reported. From January to May 2025, approximately 1.2 thousand tons of buckwheat worth around $400,000 were imported from Russia to Turkey. "This is the largest volume of supplies in the history of observations: for example, throughout 2024, Russian exports of this type of grain crop to Turkey amounted to about 25 tons," the press service noted. They also added that this year another historic event occurred: Russia imported buckwheat to Iraq for the first time (approximately 250 tons). In total, Russian exports of the crop during the specified period amounted to about 153,000 tons.
