Russia is a leading global supplier of sunflower oil, meal, rapeseed oil, non-GMO canola, and soybeans, but faces challenges in export duties and infrastructure that limit growth. The country is in competition with Ukraine for the top spot in sunflower oil exports, hindered by Ukraine's low domestic vegetable oil consumption. To increase production and sales, the head of the Fat and Oil Union, Mikhail Maltsev, suggests infrastructure and supply chain optimization, and support for seed and pesticide production.
