Russia's seafood industry has caught over 4.6 million metric tons of seafood in 2024, a 7% decrease from the previous year, according to the Federal Fisheries Agency. The decline is largely due to a significant drop in salmon catch. Despite this, pollock and Iwashi sardines have seen increases in 2024 compared to 2023. The efficiency of the fishing fleet has increased, with a new record catch of Iwashi sardines. However, the catch of cod has also decreased due to reduced quotas.
