According to data from the Russian Agricultural Products Export Development Center, from January to August 2025, Russia supplied 515,000 tons of dried peas to China, with an export value exceeding 186 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 23% in export volume and 27% in export value.
The news shows that in 2025, Russia became China's main export country for dried peas, with other major suppliers to China including Canada (417,000 tons, export value of 172 million U.S. dollars), Australia (36,000 tons, export value of 17 million U.S. dollars), the United States (33,000 tons, export value of 18 million U.S. dollars), and Argentina (2,000 tons, export value of 17 million U.S. dollars).
The news indicates that in the first eight months of 2025, China imported a total of over 1 million tons of dried peas, with a total import value of 435 million U.S. dollars.
Dried peas are widely used in cooking, healthy diets, and medicine, such as for treating tuberculosis, vascular and kidney diseases.
On March 18, the Russian Agricultural Products Export Center told the satellite news agency that according to preliminary statistics, in 2024, Russia exported over 8.3 million tons of agricultural products to China, with a total export value of approximately 7.4 billion U.S. dollars. Among the agricultural products exported from Russia to China, the largest export category was canola oil (13%), followed by barley (10%), sunflower oil and peas (each 8%), and soybeans (7%). China became the main importer of Russian agricultural products in 2024, maintaining this position for two consecutive years.
