Russian scientists have created a sulfur-containing fertilizer that can boost sunflower yields by nearly 1.5 times. Field tests in Tatarstan revealed that applying sulfur bentonite at 150 kg/ha increased seed weight per sunflower basket by 43%. This fertilizer not only enhances yields but also improves product quality by supporting chlorophyll formation, nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolism, and stress resistance. As a major producer and exporter of sunflower oil, Russia could enhance its trade with countries like India and China by adopting this new technology, thereby increasing the profitability and global competitiveness of its sunflower cultivation.
